Otherworlders

An idea long held by Daniel Huffman (New Fumes), Otherworlders was launched as a recording project in 2022 after reuniting with friend and former bandmate Karl Poetschke over Sunday tacos and recording sessions at the Dome Home in Dallas, TX.

Under the direction of Huffman, Otherworlders is a cohort of “otherworlder” musicians who lend their talents in improvised live performances and recording tracks that act as a palette for Huffman’s aural paintings that are the albums.

Low fidelity dreams stretch out over a canvas made of desert landscapes on a world where life is possible. Colors shift from blues into reds on a horizon in a future where we are a distant relative of what we once were. The wind calls out across the eternally morphing sand dunes like mythological demigods trapped between this reality and a higher one. Sounda dipping in and out of existence, coming from far away. Drenching us in sonic glory for all of our days here with all of you. All of us. Flavors of Can, Tangerine Dream, Electric Miles Davis, Soft Machine. Blended to create something wholly new. Wholly incredible. Music to assist in traveling the astral plane. To me, this is the essence of Aural Canyon's sound. Otherworlders takes you there, beyond, deeper into now. ATOP 7/1/2024
